Mumbai – The City of Seven Islands

Mumbai, also known as the ‘City of Seven Islands’ is a group of several small islands namely Colaba, Mazagaon, Old Woman's Island, Wadala, Mahim, Parel and Matunga-Sion. Mumbai got its name changed from Bombay back the year 1995. The city has been rich in history through the rule of Emperor Ashoka, the Portugeuse, the British, and continues to impress post-independence.

Apart from these factors, Mumbai being rich in its historical aspects has many monuments that have been standing throughout the city, since decades. Surprisingly, many of the historical landmarks of Mumbai are still in use by the Government, for the same function that they were built for. All these places are preserved very well and are widely visited by the tourists.

There are several travel portals which plan your holidays, which make sure that you get to visit these age old places and experience the real Bombay, before it ever became Mumbai. The major attractions of the city include places like the Gateway of India, the Asiatic Library, Mumbai High Court, Flora Fountain and also the most famous Victoria Terminus, also known as Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus.

Mumbai is well known as the city of dreams. It experiences a large inflow of tourists throughout the year for sightseeing and pilgrimages. People also come to this city in search of employment opportunities. The city is the home to quite a few millionaires, living in stretches from the posh areas of Cuff Parade to the beautiful beaches of Juhu, and scattered throughout the city.

So the next time you visit this city of dreams, make sure you make the most of it and absorb yourself in its glory.

Avail Christmas Travel Plan Packages from Mumbai!

With Christmas just around the corner, many people in Mumbai are planning their vacations to different parts of India or even abroad to visit their family or friends or even for leisure holidays on their own. Various destinations are known to be excellent spots for winter sports such as the Himalayas, Kashmir, Manali, etc. in India and various foreign destinations such as Switzerland, London, New York, etc.

Whichever vacation you are opting for; especially for those which are abroad one of the most important forms of protections that you can take is to purchase a good insurance policy. It is easy to purchase these policies as numerous travel agencies and companies offer many different policies and plans along with various offers pertaining to the season i.e. winter. There are also many Christmas holiday packages as well which people may avail.

As many of the holidays go to those destinations where there are many different sports such as skiing, snowboarding, riding on snowmobiles or even to warmer areas where there is no snowfall it is either-way important to purchase a good insurance policy to provide you with the necessary protection that you require.

You may even be carrying valuable on you such as jewellery, expensive electronics such as ipad, laptops’, smart phones, etc. It is very important to insure your belongings of high value as you never know when even a theft may occur while on a vacation!

You might also be carrying valuable Christmas presents with you as well for your loved ones. It is very important to take coverage for these items in your travel insurance policy. These policies may be taken with differing coverage types.

Some of the main inclusions of these policies include medical emergencies (sickness or accident), emergency evacuation, trip cancellation, trip interruption, overseas funeral expenses, travel delays (die to weather conditions), flight connections missed due to airline schedule, lost or stolen luggage/travel documents, etc.

However, one thing to consider is that these policies are known to exclude certain conditions such as one’s ‘pre-existing’ medical conditions. For those purposes a separate policy or additional plan has to be purchased.

It is easy to purchase these policies online where people can compare policies from different companies and find a quote or rate that best suits them. They can also compare the quotes of different policies before they purchase one. They can read about the different policies that are available in the market and thus get a holistic image of what they are purchasing. It is easy to purchase these policies using different electronic payment methods such as via debit or credit card or even via Net Banking.

Mumbai is not only a popular tourist destination during this season, but is also a major city where many people choose to depart from to other destinations. Are you one of those? Plan your trip and purchase a travel insurance policy now!

Sachin Tendulkar
1988 may not mean much to some but for those interested in all things cricket, it happens to be a very special year. You see, a young Sachin R. Tendulkar made his first class debut that year and in the one that followed, he played his first match overseas! The journey that he undertook since that fateful date, has rightfully earned him the sobriquet of the God of Indian Cricket.

Sachin Tendulkar with his Fan

Setting new records became second nature to him in the years that passed as did carrying his team to safety & victory on endless occasions. So it was only fitting that he would come back to the start and bid adieu to the sport that has become his life. Come November, the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai is going to welcome its favourite son as he plays the last match of a fantastic career.

Needless to say, if you are a cricketing fan, then this is a chance-of-a-lifetime to see one of the greatest exponents of the game for one final time. So mark out the dates on the calendar and pack your bags, for all the hotels in Mumbai are going to be filled with fans that’d have come from every corner of the globe for this match.

Mumbai can be termed as shopper’s paradise. There is a wide range of market outlets, handicrafts and textiles varied in quality and price. If you have less money to shop and dream of branded clothes and watches, then the stalls along the MG road is a good option with a wide range of rejected branded items. Also don’t miss the linking road in Bandra and Fashion Street in CST described as the mecca of fashion. Bazaars of Mumbai have plenty to offer for every person looking to shop.
